Old-growth forests provide our communities with clean drinking water
Many communities across B.C. rely on old-growth forests for pure, clean water – including Vancouver and Victoria. That’s because our drinking water reservoirs are surrounded by forests which naturally filter water, saving millions of dollars on purification processes. Watch this video to find out more!
Why protecting old growth protects our drinking water
Many of our communities’ drinking water reservoirs are surrounded by forests which naturally filter water, saving millions of dollars on purification processes.
Forests don’t stop there though. With their complex root systems, they also stabilize slopes which in turn stops landslides and flooding from contaminating our water supply.
So next time you take a drink, take a second to thank the wonderful ecosystems that made it possible!
Help protect the forests that provide clean water
By logging old-growth forests, we are jeopardizing many of our families’ access to safe, clean water. Right now, only a small fraction of old-growth forests with big trees remains standing in B.C., and most is at risk of being logged.
Let’s change that.
Stand up for clean drinking water and the forests we rely on by calling for strong old-growth protection and forestry reform today. Click the button below to send a letter to your local representative.
Take action for forests
Every day over 160 soccer fields of the last old-growth forests are logged in B.C. If we don’t act now, there will be nothing left. Will you join the thousands speaking up?
