What is conservation financing?
August 2023
What is conservation financing? And why is it a crucial step in ensuring that old-growth forests remain standing for future generations?
Find out in this latest video with Sierra Club BC forest campaigner Jens Wieting!
This September will be the 3-year anniversary of the provincial government’s big old-growth promise to work with Indigenous Nations to create a paradigm shift in forest stewardship. Part of this commitment includes making conservation funding available and making sure it is directly tied to addressing short and long-term impacts of both temporary deferrals and permanent protection. This is needed to take the pressure off First Nations, who often depend on logging revenue.
It’s not too late to turn things around for old-growth forests and all the life they hold. By taking bold action today, we can make sure future generations know these vital ecosystems too.
Here are a few ways you can take action for old growth…
