Explore the Great Bear Rainforest with Tweedsmuir Park Lodge and Sierra Club BC
Located in the heart of the Great Bear Rainforest, we invite you to experience the stunning Bella Coola Valley for yourself with the help of Nuxalk guides and Tweedsmuir Park Lodge.
Located in Nuxalk and Ulkatcho territory, you have the chance to explore ancient cedar groves and stunning peaks. As you lazily drift down the Atnarko River, you’ll come face to face with a myriad of wildlife in one of the most biodiverse and remote areas in the country. It will be an adventure you won’t want to miss.
This generously donated Tweedsmuir Park Lodge “Bella Coola Explorer” package will be auctioned off at our Vancouver 50th Anniversary Gala Featuring Mother Mother – with all proceeds going towards Sierra Club BC. This package is for a four night stay for two people and is valued at $7,160.
This spectacular landscape is protected under the Great Bear Rainforest Agreement which was created after over a decade of demonstrations, negotiations and planning. Through this agreement, eighty-five per cent—3.1 million hectares—of the remote region’s coastal temperate rainforests are permanently off-limits to industrial logging.
The ground-breaking agreements are the result of a collaboration between Indigenous Nations, Sierra Club BC, Greenpeace, Forest Ethics Solutions, the provincial government and the forestry industry. Together, we helped create one of the most comprehensive conservation and forest management achievements in the world, which now serves as a model for future conservation efforts.
