Sylvie has been interested in environmental stewardship from a young age because of experiences like family camping trips and bike rides that inspired her appreciation of nature. Her love for the environment led her to pursue a degree in natural resources conservation at the University of British Columbia, where she learned that her interests in conservation are focused on education and communication more than research. After working in educator jobs, Sylvie is looking to expand her skills in the Digital Engagement Assistant role to explore social media as a tool for communicating with and engaging people in environmental issues.
During her time at university, Sylvie realized that her interests lie specifically in the intersectionality of environmental issues, learning that helping the environment goes hand in hand with helping communities. Through her position as the Digital Engagement Assistant, Sylvie hopes to expand on this interest by helping others understand the importance of Sierra Club BC’s work and supporting SCBC’s mission.
