In the news: Environmental advocates applaud Saanich initiative to protect BC’s coastline
September 9, 2025
This post references a media mention of Sierra Club BC published by Victoria Buzz. The District of Saanich council passed a motion calling on the B.C. and federal governments to uphold the North Coast tanker ban, oppose new oil pipelines to B.C.’s coast, and invest in renewable energy and clean technologies.
As our Organizer David Quigg stated in the article, “This resolution will send a strong message that Canada needs to skate to where the puck is going — clean energy solutions that create long-term, sustainable jobs without endangering the ecosystems we all depend on.”
This progress was made possible through our Move the Dial Program, which helps equip concerned residents with tools to advocate for the environment at their city councils.
