The Forests, Our Future: A Fundraiser for Sierra Club BC
May 29, 2024
We hosted an impactful evening sharing in conversation about the state of old-growth forests and how we can come together to build a brighter future. Read our report back from the fundraiser with popular science communicator, Ross Reid (aka Nerdy About Nature).

An evening for forests
Our recent fundraiser: The Forests, Our Future was a beautiful evening that brought together supporters of the forest. We were so grateful to have guest speaker Ross Reid of Nerdy About Nature join us for a lively conversation with SCBC Campaigns Director Shelley Luce about the state of forest conservation in B.C.
Shelley and Ross discussed forest management, strategies to move forward with better policy, how to get folks more engaged in old growth protection, and the importance of biodiversity conservation across the province.
A silent auction
The silent auction was a great success. Guests bid on a diverse range of items, from stays at the Black Rock Lodge in Ucluelet and the Parkside Hotel in Victoria, to surf lessons in Tofino and passes for HAVN spa.
We are so grateful for the generous donations and contributions we received from Persephone Brewing, Mythology Vineyards, and Humblebee Meadery. The Garry Oak Meadows Preservation Society kindly donated Garry Oak seedlings to contribute to the table centerpieces, and folks were thrilled to take home with them at the end of the evening. Satinflower Nurseries also donated perennial and annual indigenous seedlings for guests to add to their gardens.
