Events big or small all add up by connecting people to the important work of standing up for forests, biodiversity and a livable climate. Here are some ideas:

Host a holiday dinner party for your friends, relatives, and neighbours

What to talk about at your event

It can be hard to bring up issues we care deeply about with our social circles. We get it and we’re here to help. We all connect through stories and we’re here to help you find personal ways of connecting and sharing that bring people in rather than turn them away.

Planning your Event

Make it social and enjoy the company of others as you organize. Talk to friends and neighbours, and reach out through your networks. Having a detailed plan helps you figure out how much preparation time you will need to put on an event. If you are working with a team, make the plan as a shared document which everyone can edit.

Set a Goal

Set an attainable fundraising goal. A goal can motivate you and inspire those around you to help out. Many small amounts can add up to big sums. Whether you raise $20 or $2,000, you can help make an impact.

Use Facebook Fundraising

100% of donations you collect via Facebook fundraisers will straight to Sierra Club BC.

Set up your fundraiser here.

Click on “Select Nonprofit” and search for “Sierra Club of British Columbia Foundation”
Set your goal. Don’t be afraid to set a stretch goal! Many small amounts can add up to big sums.
Choose your end date.
Give your fundraiser a title and tell your friends why you’re raising money.
Click “Create.”

Use CanadaHelps

A CanadaHelps fundraising website accepts credit card donations so you don’t have to worry about collecting any forms.

Set up your fundraiser here.

Click “Create Your Fundraiser.”
Sign in or click “Create one” if you don’t have an account.
Set “Sierra Club of BC Foundation” as your charity.
Include “Sierra Club of BC Foundation” and your name or organization in your fundraiser title
Donate to yourself first before you ask people to contribute. Your supporters will see others have donated when they visit your page.
