SIERRA OKANAGAN GETS OUTSIDE WITH LOCAL SCHOOL
Sierra Okanagan Local Group has been working on some exciting programs! In September 2016, they partnered with the Okanagan Collaborative Conservation Program (OCCP) on the Students Without Borders Academy at Kalamalka Secondary.
The students have been conducting environmental surveys of local wetlands and riparian areas, looking at birds, invertebrates, plants, soil, and human impacts.
The group plans to collect their field observations into a report that will expand the information available for local wetland inventories, and survey the same locations in future years.
We’re so grateful to all of the project partners – OCCP, the Allan Brooks Nature Centre, the BC Wildlife Federation, the Okanagan Basin Water Board, and a UBC Okanagan grad student.
