Shanti Aria (she/her) is a Board Member at Sierra Club BC. She is a settler on unceded Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh territory, and grew up on the lands of the Kānaka Maoli people in Hawaii. She has several years of experience in the not-for-profit sector and brings an in-depth understanding of board governance and grassroots organizing. She served as the VP of Equity and Sustainability at the Capilano Students Union, championing social justice, equity, and accessibility. She also served as the Director of Research and Campaigns for the Alliance of BC Students, representing over 80,000 post-secondary students and advocating to government on both the provincial and federal levels for accessible education for all.
She is currently pursuing a BSc in environmental science at the University of British Columbia with a specialization in sustainability science, where she served as the VP Academic for the Environmental Science Students Association. Aria combines a strong scientific background with her passion for equity, accessibility and sustainability to work towards climate justice and the environmental movement as a whole.
