Robin is a Forest Community Liaison at Sierra Club BC. In this role, she works with communities around the province to protect, maintain and interact with forests in ways that promote healthy ecosystems, sustainable economies and climate resilience.
Robin’s career in forestry started with tree planting, after which she attended the Forest Technology program at Selkirk College. Since then, she has worked with communities in the Lillooet region with a focus on ecosystem-based forestry, ecosystem restoration and wildfire threat reduction. Robin is fascinated by the complex ways that people and forests interact, and is working to shift our current forestry structure towards a new system that values forests differently. She believes that we can have a thriving forestry sector that moves away from old-growth harvest and towards community forestry, selective harvesting and new ways of relating to forests.
To do this work, Robin is inspired by stunning natural landscape surrounding her hometown of Lillooet which holds endless opportunities for exploring the Coast Mountains. In her spare time, she enjoys the rural lifestyle and likes to grow, harvest, preserve and cook great food.
