Protect the coast we love from tankers

Six years ago, after years of fighting to protect B.C.’s waters, people in B.C. won a huge victory when the federal government banned oil tankers on the North Coast and sent Enbridge packing.

Now, Trump’s Big Oil allies—backed by Alberta Premier Danielle Smith—want a second kick at this precious coast with their proposed northern oil pipeline. “Any day now,” says Smith. We say: not a chance!

Prime Minister Mark Carney says he won’t push pipelines through over the objections of provinces . We need to be loud and clear when we remind him that we do not consent. For decades, we’ve said no to oil spills, and the job losses, financial devastation, and damaged ecosystems that come with them.

In 2019, Parliament made it illegal to ship oil off this coast, and we plan to keep it that way. B.C. chooses salmon, halibut, herring, orcas, clean water and healthy beaches. We won’t trade that for pollution and profit for American oil barons.

Instead, our federal and provincial governments should be investing in clean energy—solar, wind, a cross-country grid that cuts bills and creates jobs. We expect our leaders to protect the climate, our future and yes, our coast.

Write your MP today with our letter-writing tool! Danielle Smith says a pipeline project proposal is coming any day now. Tell Prime Minister Carney you say no to Trump’s dirty oil and yes to clean energy that doesn’t endanger the coast that so many fought to protect. Remind your MP of Carney’s promise to not push a new pipeline through provinces that don’t want one.
