Zach’s passion for protecting the outdoors started alongside his love of skiing. In his teens, he started picking up on dwindling snow-packs, receding glaciers, and summers of forest fires ravaging B.C.

After leaving his home in the Okanagan, Zach began his studies at the University of Victoria, where he studied Anthropology and Professional Communication. Zach was drawn to the ethos behind a first-year anthropology course, “making the strange familiar and the familiar strange.” Zach still leans on this mantra as he has gone on to work in marketing and communications roles in various environmental spaces in the non-profit sector. Hoping his work will inspire residents in B.C. to question the status quo and strive for change as the climate’s unpredictability and degradation become a new normal.

Outside of the workplace, Zach spends time outdoors with his partner, Gillian, and his dog, Merlin, in tow.
