Regan Cross is an ecologist living and working on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations (in Vancouver, BC). She grew up in Ontario on the traditional territories of the Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples. Regan holds a Ph.D. in biology from Queen’s University, where her research focused on how plant species may respond to climate change through shifting their geographic ranges and adapting to changing conditions. She is passionate about protecting ecosystems and biodiversity, and finds great joy in learning through engaging with her community.
Regan has been a lifelong volunteer, having served on numerous committees, including three years as the co-chair of the Queen’s biology graduate student council, where she worked with her team to advance several EDI initiatives in the department. Regan believes that social justice and climate change are inherently connected, and is committed to continual learning as she serves on the Sierra Club BC Board.
