Originally from Ontario, Laural has found a new home and love for the natural world in British Columbia. Having been raised with only pockets of nature available to connect with, the massive mountains, endless lakes and lands of British Columbia have ignited a decades-long passion for environmental conservation. Finding ways to play, explore and deepen her connection with creativity, she’s inspired by how others prioritize maintaining and caring for the world around them.
Having been a participant in a similar environmental education program when she was younger, and a facilitator for Rivers to Ridges in Whitehorse previously, she is excited to be the newest Facilitator of Learning for the Okanagan region. Based in Kelowna — the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the sylix/Okanagan people who have resided here since time immemorial — Laural enjoys minding her garden, trying out gluten-free recipes and reading stories from local authors.
One of Laural’s favourite creative outlets is writing and storytelling. Imagination is at the core of both, and something she brings along with her to each school she facilitates at. With a background in media and communications, as well as healthcare, Laural brings a unique perspective of caring and connection to her Facilitator of Learning role.
