Katherine has a keen interest in environmentalism, the arts, social justice, and education. She believes that everyone has special knowledge to contribute and that it is through collaboration that we create room for innovation. Katherine has lived on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) nations, also known as Vancouver, for almost 20 years. Before this, she spent her childhood in an industrial, port city in Wales, UK being raised by her Danish father and Canadian mother. As a child of several countries, Katherine developed a deep curiosity for the shared human experience.
Having been raised in an urban environment, Katherine formed her relationship with the forest, waters, mountains and all the beings who call them home more slowly, one step at a time. She continues to build these relationships each day through sketching, painting, hiking, camping, and meditation.
Like many of us, she comes to this work out of a deep sense of duty to the generations who are to come, as well as the people both here in B.C. and across the world who are looking to rebuild their relationships to the land. Katherine is thrilled to be able to support the leadership team at Sierra Club BC.
