Fiona is a dedicated and positive leader with a collaborative style and high-level skills in strategic planning, human resources, operations, public speaking, and building strategic alliances. In the last decade, she has served as the CEO for both the Dalai Lama Center for Peace and Education and The Minerva Foundation for BC Women.
Her main role as Interim Executive Director at SCBC is to discover how to best support the team and provide continuity while Hannah enjoys her parental leave. Her goal is for everyone, individually and as a team, to be thriving when Hannah comes back to SCBC.
Fiona has been lucky to have diverse experiences in the non-profit world and temporary leadership roles where she has learned the value of trust, transparency, and clarity for a team going through a leadership transition. She has worked for large, medium, and small-sized organizations and functioned at the strategic and highly operational levels. She is confident these experiences will help her navigate the priorities, challenges, and opportunities at SCBC.
Having grown up on a farm, Fiona has always been interested in environmental work even if that was not how she would categorize her love for nature back then. More recently, she’s been involved in the movement to stop the Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion, something she continues to care deeply about as a resident of Bowen Island (Nexwlélexwm) on the traditional territory of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh people.
