David Farrell is a climate campaigner with a background in environmental policy, communications, public service, and community engagement. He loves the political process and believes that having meaningful conversations around hard issues is the key to positive change.
Before joining Sierra Club BC, David worked with the Hawai‘i House of Representatives on the Energy and Environmental Protection Committee, where he supported legislative work on climate, conservation, and environmental protection. He also worked in community engagement with NOAA’s Office of Habitat Restoration, helping connect communities with efforts to restore and protect coastal ecosystems.
David holds a Master’s in Environmental Policy from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador and a Bachelor’s in Communication. He brings experience in public speaking, and storytelling to his campaign work, with a focus on making complex environmental issues clear, human, and actionable.
Outside of work, David is happiest near water, in the mountains, or anywhere he can be outdoors. Whether snowboarding, surfing, scuba diving, or hiking, his love for wild places, and especially the ocean, is a big part of why he does this work.
