Brooklyn was raised in a small community called Deep Cove, nestled in the North Shore mountains on the ancestral territory of the Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Growing up in Deep Cove, it was essential for Brooklyn to learn about Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh culture and practices.
While completing her BA in International Economic Development at the University of British Columbia, Brooklyn began to develop a passion for human rights and environmental stewardship. These two passions defined a clear path in the environmental advocacy sector, working to amplify Indigenous environmental priorities.
Motivated by her passion for human rights, and her love for collaborative advocacy, she launched her career by co-founding a non-profit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Brooklyn then spent the next several years of her career in tech, consulting, and then finding her way back into the non-profit sector.
Brooklyn is honoured to be a part of the Sierra Club BC team, an organization that is dedicated not only to environmental stewardship but to upholding Indigenous rights and title. She looks forward to continuing to amplify Sierra Club BC’s mission, deepening our existing partnerships, and fostering new ones.
