Mark Worthing

Mark Worthing is a multidisciplinary activist, naturalist and journalist who has an affinity for the wilder landscapes of British Columbia.

You will find Mark exploring coastal estuaries and rainforests, researching northern resident orcas, occupying tar sands pipelines, or reading about biodiversity in the Flathead River Basin in the southern Rockies. He has developed his storytelling voice through four years of print-media at the University of Victoria’s Martlet Independent student newspaper as well as freelance journalism while completing his undergraduate degree in Political Science & Environmental Studies.

He is a founding member of Tanker Free BC, a conservation enthusiast, community builder, small business entrepreneur, and also works as Sierra Club BC’s Flathead Outreach Coordinator.

With activism experience from Greenpeace, Salmon Are Sacred, and grassroots movements, he brings a kind-hearted approach to radical discourses like decolonizing, solidarity work and direct action. Some of his creative outlets are: knife making, soap making, beer brewing, wild harvesting and ethnobotany. He drinks coffee in the morning, turmeric milk before bed and loves to kayak.
