2016 was the year of the Great Bear Rainforest agreements! Involving provincial and First Nations governments, unions, industry and environmental organizations, the agreements have received international recognition and awards. By moving from conflict to collaboration, we showed how conservation can work for the economy and the environment while respecting Indigenous governments.
In 2017, Sierra Club BC will put the lessons of the Great Bear Rainforest to work to stop logging in old-growth forests on Vancouver Island and the South Coast. Your donation will build a coalition of First Nations, local leaders, workers and environmental groups to pressure the provincial government for increased forest conservation.
