Peace Valley Campaigner & Volunteer Coordinator
Galen was born in Nelson, BC, and raised in Sherwood, OR, taking frequent family trips to the Cascade mountains and the beautiful Oregon coast, and spending his summers back in the Kootenays, exploring alpine meadows, swimming in clear lakes, turning over rocks, and unwittingly gaining a lasting love for the natural world.
Galen brings a variety of experience to Sierra Club BC, having worked as an environmental educator with California State Parks and a nature day camp at Tryon Creek State Park in Oregon; a backcountry ranger in Glacier Bay, Alaska; and an organizer with the Environmental Law and Policy Centre in Chicago and Southern Alliance for Clean Energy in Mississippi.
Galen enjoys backpacking, playing banjo, singing, and performing improvisational theatre with Victoria-based troupe Whistling Kettle.
