We’re now ramping up for the second half of the school year and are excited about what’s in store for our environmental education team in the coming months.
Our team of environmental educators worked hard this year to provide hands-on learning opportunities to students across the province. They facilitated 251 workshops for over 5800 students at 80 schools in 21 school districts!
Over the past eight months, Kirsten and I have been honoured to collaborate with Charlene George (kQwat’st’not), an educator and textile artist from T’Sou-ke, a community that bridges the Coast Salish and Nuu-Cha-Nulth territories.
Our Environmental Educators, Kirsten and Amira, delivered over 200 workshop during the 2016/17 school year to nearly 5000 students at 74 different schools in 18 school districts across the province!
Our Education Team facilitated six environmental education professional development workshops for teachers in May. The workshops covered topics such as building a routine to take your class outside regularly and connections to the new BC curriculum. Their goal is to expand this Pro-D training to all teachers by 2020.
Education Program Manager James Davis attended the annual Children & Nature Network International Conference & Summit in Vancouver last month and connected with environmental educators from across North America and around the world.
