Yesterday the B.C. government gave Imperial Metals a permit to discharge waste water from their temporary pit to avoid a new catastrophe at Mount Polley.

The province allowed mining operations to resume without long-term safeguards in place, only patchwork measures. Meanwhile, in Brazil the government is suing the company responsible for the recent mining disaster there for $5 billion.
