About
Building a brighter future, together
Sierra Club BC is the longest-running environmental charity in B.C. with over 55 years of experience speaking up for forests, biodiversity and a stable climate. From the grassroots to the forest canopy, from the classroom to city hall, we work alongside communities to build a brighter future for the people and places we love.
Who we are
Since 1969, Sierra Club BC has worked with passionate communities to nurture thriving ecosystems and a stable climate. We leverage our decades of experience to implement stronger environmental policies, support Indigenous-led solutions, and empower local leaders from all walks of life to create positive change.
We have a long and proven track record with a network of over 30,000 people and growing. Sierra Club BC has been involved in nearly every major environmental win in the province alongside Indigenous Nations and community partners: from the Great Bear Rainforest Agreement to the protection of Clayoquot Sound to shutting down the Enbridge pipeline. And we’re keeping the momentum going.

Why we exist
At our heart, Sierra Club BC exists to leave this world a better place for our grandchildren and their grandchildren. So that they may know what it’s like to meet towering old-growth trees, witness orcas breaking through the waves, and rest beside life-sustaining rivers. We want to ensure they grow up knowing clean water, clean air and healthy communities.
Our vision
A healthy, life-sustaining planet, where humans respect the dignity and interdependence of all beings.
Our mission
To support people stewarding abundant ecosystems and a stable climate, while building resilient, equitable communities.
