Jackie Larkin has been a social justice and environmental activist for over 40 years in the women’s, labour and political action movements.
She worked for a number of years as an educator with the BC Nurses Union (until 2006). Since then, she continues to facilitate meetings, and to deliver courses in leadership development, strategic planning, and facilitation skills for Unions, Community Groups and in the Health Care sector. She co-facilitates The Work That Reconnects, deep ecology workshops inspired by the work of Joanna Macy. Recently she has joined the Inner Activist Education Program which focuses on the development of emotional intelligence in leaders. She was formerly Board Chair of Toxic Free Canada (formerly the Labour Environmental Alliance Society) working to eliminate toxins from workplaces and communities. In the past, Jackie helped build a small education company, taught electronics at a community college, worked as a mill worker, was a political organizer and pursued other interesting passions which have given her a rich life.
