Legacy Giving

Why I joined the circle

A warm thank you to Marion Cumming for her commitment to Sierra Club BC and her good nature.

Legacy giving means leaving Sierra Club BC a gift in your will or estate plan that will help us to protect the environment in honour of your memory. Legacy gifts include bequests and gifts of securities.

Your estate plans could include:

  • Making a gift in your will, which would be a charitable tax credit on your final tax return.
  • Donating assets, such as shares of securities, bonds, or mutual funds.
  • Naming Sierra Club of BC Foundation as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or an RRSP. (The payments you make may be tax-deductible. Contact us for details.)

Need more information?

You may designate your gift in any way you choose, so if you’d like to make a specific or restricted bequest, please contact Elisabeth Hazell at 250 882 3682 or by email. Michelle will work with you to ensure your wishes are met and that you know that your gift will be used in the way you intend.

For information about how your gift will be used and options on how to give both now and in the future, download our Bequests and Gifts of Securities Factsheet here (or ask Elisabeth to mail it to you). The factsheet contains sample wording you can use in your will, and the form needed to make a donation of securities.
