East Creek investigation finds clearcutting rare intact old-growth on Vancouver Island in compliance with laws, highlighting B.C. government failure to protect endangered rainforest

The BC government’s Forest Practices Board released its findings today regarding Sierra Club BC’s May 2016 complaint about Lemare Lake Logging Ltd. logging practices in the East Creek area. East Creek forms part of the largest remaining contiguous ancient rainforest on northern Vancouver Island.

UNESCO: Site C Dam Threatens Canada's largest World Heritage Site

Based upon a process initiated by Sierra Club BC, UNESCO visited the Peace River Valley to investigate how the Site C dam endangers Wood Buffalo National Park. The newly released report strongly criticizes Canada for failing to protect its largest World Heritage Site. This report demonstrates the Trudeau government should never have allowed any approvals for the Site C megadam in the first place.

Canada has failed to protect its largest World Heritage Site. A 10-day monitoring mission to Wood Buffalo National Park has resulted in a UN report strongly criticizing Canada. The park risks the embarrassment of joining the list of UNESCO’s List of World Heritage in Danger.
